Next Meeting
Thursday 21st September at 8pm
St Annes Hall, 7b Aylesbury Road, Wendover

The Buckinghamshire Badger Group was formed in 1986 and, together with over eighty other Badger Groups throughout the country, we have the following aims:

  • to record and monitor all badger setts and sightings of dead badgers. This information is invaluable for effective badger protection. Please submit a sett record form if you know of any setts in the county that may not be recorded..
  • to offer help and advice to local planning authorities, road engineers, statutory agencies, the general public and others on a wide range of badger issues.
  • to liaise with the Police and the RSPCA to help combat illegal activities. Regrettably some badger persecution still takes place in our county, despite badgers and their setts being protected by law. We also campaign for a ban on the use of all snares.
  • to educate children and adults on the threats that badgers face and to provide information on what can be done to help. The group gives talks and has display boards for this purpose.
  • to rescue, rehabilitate and return to the wild (whenever possible) sick or injured badgers.

"Protecting Badgers in Buckinghamshire" (And elsewhere if required!!)

The Group is a member of the Badger Trust (formerly NFBG) and also The Mammal Society. Each of these organisations can be joined independently. They both produce excellent newsletters and have active junior sections.
